Abstract     Medical deontology is the teaching about the duties that are important for the doctor and are precisely defined in the Slovenian Code of Medical Deontology. Also medical legislation requires the observation of the stipulations of the Code, which also precisely determine the patient's (man's) dignity after his death. Also after a patient's death the doctor must observe medical confidentiality and a breach there of is a severe violation of the Code as well as a criminal offence in accordance with the Slovenian Criminal Code. Only in precisely specified cases the doctor may be released from this confidentiality.
