Abstract		In our baby frendly hospital, where special stress is laid on newborn children as well as on breastfeeding, we pay a lot of attention on any peculiarities which can prevent successful breastfeeding. Thus sunken nipples can be an obstacle causing problems when breastfeeding. Background: By monitoring and helping breastfeeding mothers we percieve sunken nipples approximately once a week. Such mother usually await problems with breastfeeding. Conclusions: Successful breastfeeding is also possible with sunken nipples. What is the most important thing in such a situation is the correct placing of a newborn child. Every mother should be granted help and consulting with breastfeeding. These can, however, be given by a well trained and qualified nurse.
