Abstract     Prosthetic graft infection is a serious complication in vascular surgery and can lead to limb loss or death. The incidence of graft infections depends on the site of implantation and can reach 5%. Early infections (less than 3 months postoperatively] are caused predominantly by Staphylococcus aureus. Late infections [more than 3 months postoperatively) are mainly caused by S. epiderrnidis. The diagnosis is made by considering clinical manifestations, vascular imaging reports (ultrasound, computer tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, angiography and scintigraphy) and microbialogic results. Remaval of the entire graft is essential treatment in septic patients or when the anastomosis is involved with the infection. If the limb is threatened, revascularization is mandatory. Antibiotics are essential in preventing and menaging vascular grafts infections.
