Abstract		Infections are inevitable parts of the treatment of fractures. Their occurrence can be controlled by being aware of risk factors and good fracture treatment strategy. Infection statistics provides us with important data of our work and its assessment. If infection occurs, early and aggressive treatment is mandatory with several operative procedures, and supportive and antibiotic treatment is needed. The treatment is usually long lasting, expensive and demanding, with sometimes questionable final result. Good team-work is gradually yielding better results also in the field of infection treatment.
