Abstract     The introduction of a spiral CT imaging during which the patient travels continuously through the opening of the computer tomograph and temporally adjusted intravenous injecting of an iodinated contrast media have also enabled a representation of vessels by using the computer tomography (CTA). The contrast agent is injected through the intravenous canal therefore CTA is a less invasive method than classical angiography. An important part of CTA is the possibility of producing three-dimensional reconstructions, which can greatly improve the interpretation of the examination results. The article presents the CT angiography of the thoracic aorta, the anatomy and the examination protocol, which is used in General Hospital Celje as well as pathological processes on thoracic aorta.
