Abstract     MR of the thoracic spine has become the most informative imaging method of the modern radiology. This is even more true for the imaging of thc spinal column and medulla. MR imaging of the spine is the examination of choice tor the skeleton pathology, articular system and surrounding soft tissues being specially suited for degenerative- (discus hernia) and inflammation pathology (discitis, spondilodiscitis, paravertebral abscess) as well as expansive process. When choosing the right method, proper coil has to be used combined with the right clinical indication for imaging i.e. choosing the adequate imaging protocol. In some cases the parameters of pulse sequences have to be adjusted and possibly some non-typical sequences have to be added. Some cases require the use of paramagnetic contrast agent administered intravenously.
