Abstract		The author of the contribution illustrates the biopsycho-social model of mental disorders which can be named as holistic view / attitude. The specific features of holistic attitude towards addiction are underlined. The paper tries to give some answers to the main question: why is the reductionistic perception of patients between professionals so common in spite the holistic attitude being promoted as the state of art of treatment of people with mental disorders. Urgency of holistic treatment is illustrated with clinical examples, as well as respectful interdisciplinary interactions.
