Abstract     Electroporation is a drug delivery system for various molecules into the cells, predominantly for the molecules that have hampered or no transport through the plasma membrane. Electroporation is widely used in vitro, however it is also possible to introduce molecules into the tissues in vivo. Introduced can be either chemotherapeutic drugs or naked DNA, into the tissues like muscle or tumors. Depending on the molecules used the treatment approach is either electrochemotherapy or electrogene therapy. Electrochemotherapy effectiveness has already been demonstrated in clinical trials in cancer patients, and now it is being introduced into the clinical practice with preparation of Standard Operating Procedures - SOP. Thanks to so advanced stage of electrochemotherapy, it is possible now to promote transfer of electrogene therapy from preclinical level into the clinics.
