Abstract     Over the past few years, evidence has accumulated indicating that clearance of apoptotic cells by phagocytes such as macrophages and dendritic cells can result in anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects. Uptake of apoptotic cells by phagocytes involves several receptors and several among them have been implied to mediate inhibitory effects on dendritic cell maturation and to lead to potentially tolerogenic signals. We speculate that only discrete receptor ligation will modulate the outcome of apoptotic cell uptake at the phagocyte level and the resulting stimulation of effector T cells.
Summary     Fagocitne celice, predvsem makrofagi in dendritične celice, učinkovito odstranjujejo apoptotsko umirajoče celice.
