Abstract     Travellers are often exposed to communicable diseases that have never existed in their home country, have become eradicated or are now extremely rare. Only a small number of communicable diseases can be prevented through vaccination e. g. yellow fever, hepatitis A and B, meningococcal meningitis and meningococcemia, typhoid, rabies and Japanese encephalitis. Vaccination against communicable diseases is recommended to any traveller seeking advice at the Outpatient Clinic for Travellers at the NIPH, taking into account their general medical condition, previous vaccinations, travel destinations and the actual risk of contracting communicable diseases.
Zelo majhno število nalezljivih bolezni lahko preprečimo s cepljenjem, npr. rumeno mrzlico, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, meningokokni meningitis in meningokokcemijo, tifus, steklino in japonski encefalitis.
