Abstract		Sexually transmitted infections, especially those in the tropics, may represent a complex health problem in travellers with risky sexual behaviour, based on the incidence and prevalence of both »modern« as well as "classical" sexually transmitted infections. Some infections are endemic in these areas. Genital ulcerative sexually transmitted infections with adenopathy are very common. Widespread heterosexual transmission of HIV infection is dominant, in contrast to the industrialized western world, and the seroprevalence of the hepatitis B virus infection is very high. This review focuses on the most common sexually transmitted infections that are important for travellers, with regard to their clinical picture, diagnosis and treatment, as well as appropriate advice for travellers.
Summary		Spolno prenosljive okužbe predvsem v tropih lahko pri popotniku s tveganim spolnim vedenjem predstavljajo poseben zdravstveni problem, saj tam beležijo visoko pojavnost in obolevnost tako t. i. klasičnih kot tudi modernih spolno prenosljivih okužb. Nekatere izmed njih so endemično omejene le na ta področja. Značilno so v tropih zelo pogoste spolno prenosljive okužbe z razjedami in povečanimi bezgavkami. Prisotna je tudi značilna epidemiologija močno razširjene okužbe s HIV, ki se tam prenaša večinoma heteroseksualno, in visoka stopnja pojavnosti okužbe z virusom hepatitisa B. Predstavljene so značilnosti posameznih spolno prenosljivih okužb, s katerimi se lahko sreča popotnik in priporočila zanj pred oz. po okužbi.
