Abstract		When giving advice to a person travelling to Central and South America, you should consider yellow fever vaccination and administration of antimalaric drugs. In this region, there are also present American trypanosomiasis, dengue fever, filariasis, leishmaniasis and onchocerciasis and travellers can protect themselves only by using protection against insect bites.
Summary		Pri svetovanju popotnikom za Srednjo in Južno Ameriko je potrebno misliti na cepljenje proti rumeni mrzlici in profilakso za malarijo. V tem geografskem področju se pojavljajo tudi ameriška tripanosomoza, denga, filarioza, lišmanioza in onhocerkoza, pred katerimi se zavarujemo le tako, da se zaščitimo pred piki žuželk.
