Abstract		Experiments were performed to evaluate the possible antimicrobial activity of selected macroalgae from the north Adriatic sea. Algal extracts with saline, ethanol and petroleum ether were prepared. All samples exhibited varying degrees of antibacterial activity, ethanolic extracts were especially active against fungi, and Codium coralloides, Fucus virsoides and Cystoseira crinita cxhibited good antiviral effect. VERO and WIREF cell lines were used to detect cytotoxicity rand antiproliferative activity.
