Abstract		The Netc@rds project will test the technical abilities for the replacement of the eye-readable European health insurance card and other paper forms applicable in the implementation of the health insurance rights abroad with an electronic document - a smart card. The usage of the national health insurance cards already introduced in some countries (like in Slovenia), will be tested abroad Technically the Netc@rds services will be implemented as an extension of existing information systems including smart cards and/or networking software applications. Athens during the Olympic games this summer was the venue for the first pilot. In Slovene Pomurje region we will test the usage of foreign smart cards and enable Slovene insured persons to use their health insurance cards abroad.
