Abstract     Every individual has the fundamental right to express their thoughts and make decisions. The same right have adolescents with severe deficiencies in mental development, although we sometimes pay too little attention to their free will. These adolescents have to learn, or rather they need to have the opportunity to choose among different possibilities, concerning simple, but for them important things (for example what to eat, which activity to perform, etc.). The research established distinctions in opportunity to choose, between adolescents in daily care and adolescents, who permanently live in the Centre Dolfke Boštjančič, Mali dom, Ljubljana. Research included all three areas of human occupations (daily activities, work and play, as well as free time activities).
