Abstract | Relationships between both body wet and dry masses, and body length and length of the first thoracic segment were derived for Ihe freshwater amphipod, Gammarus fossarum Koch. Body length gave a significantly better fit of the power function through the data than length of the first thoracic segment for wet mass (p<0.011, but correlation coefficients did not diffe rsignificantly for dry mass (p>0.05). Results show that the regression equation of a species should not be applied even to related species. The high correlation coefficient for wet mass-dry mass relationship showed that dry mass could be predicted from the wet mass by using the regression equation (p<0.001). Instead of the conversion factor, the use of the regression equation is suggested for prediction of dry mass from wet mass. | |
Summary | Določali smo razmerje med svežo in suho maso ter telesno dolžino in dolžino prvega torakalnega člena pri sladkovodni vrsti Gammarus (ossarum Koch. Ujemanje podatkov s potenčno funkcijo le bilo višje v primeru telesne dolžine kot dolžine prvega torakalnega člena pri sveži masi (p<0.07), pri suhi masi pa se korelacijska koeficienta nista statistično razlikovala (p>0.05). Rezultati so pokazali, da se regresijske enačbe razlikujejo celo med sorodnimi vrstami. Visok korelacilski koeficient za razmerje med svežo in suho maso le pokazal, da z uporabo regresijske enačbe lahko na osnovi sveže mase dobro ocenimo suho maso (p<0.001). Za oceno suhe mase na osnovi sveže je bolje uporabiti regresijsko enačbo kot pa pretvorbeni faktor. | |
