Title		Effectivenes of radioiodine therapy in hyperthyroidism - cummulative experience in the last five years

Abstract		Since 1990, in 28 males and 224 femles witlh hyperthyroidism 131-1 therapy was administered orally, according to 'per gram' method (2.96-5.55 MBq/g thyroid tissue). There were 165 patients with Graves' disease, 40 with toxic adenoma and 47 with toxic multinodular goitre. Since 1990 therapy was performed once in 192, twice in. 49, three titnes in 7 patients, 4 times in 3, and five times in one patient. Observation was started three months after therapy was received. At the moment, among 252 patients, 177 are euthyroid 55 became hypothyroid and 20 are still hyperthyroid. Regardless to the type of hyperthyroidistm of 177 cured patients, 81.9% became euthyroid after their first dose. Of all the cured patients, 60% were those with thyroid mass less than 50 grams. In 34/55 hypothyroid patients, thyroid insufficiency occured after the first dose received, and in 73% of those within the first month after application. Except hypothyoidism, no other early or delayed complications were observed.
