Abstract     Carpal tunnel syndrome is one of the most common compressive, canalicular neuropathy in upper extremities and a frequent cause of hand pain and impaired function. Its clinical symptoms depend on duration and degree of the compression of the median nerve. The first symptoms affect the sensory nerve fibers, but as the compression persists, motor nerve fibers undergo damage as well. The typical carpal tunnel syndrome can be clinically identified by a precise test performance, observing and with help of anamnesis. For the confirmation of the diagnosis and planning the treatment the electrodiagnostic test is being used.
Summary     Sindrom zapestnega prehoda predstavlja najpogostejšo kompresivno, kanalikularno nevropatijo na zgornjem udu. Prvi klinični simptomi odražajo prizadetost senzoričnega nitja medianega živca, če utesnitev vztraja pa so prizadeta tudi motorična. Klinično lahko z natančnim izvajanjem testov, opazovanjem in ob pomoči anamneze prepoznamo tipičen sindrom karpalnega kanala, za potrditev diagnoze in načrtovanje zdravljenja uporabimo elektrodiagnostiko.
