Abstract		From 1994 to 1996 the evaluation of phythobenthos community was asessed during summer and winter low flow on the karstic river Branica. The phythobenthos distribution in different hydraulic environments was evaluated on three different ections of the river. The quantitative samples of phythobenthos were collected as well as quantitative samples of phythobenthos for the evaluation of dry mass (DM), ash-free dry mass (AFDM) and chlorophyll-a. All the same time, the river flow and the current velocity were measured. In the river Branica we determined 75 different species of phythobenthos. Thre were different conditions for phythogenthos composition present on a treating section of the river Branica. Low flow, shady river bed and substratum mobility on the sampling points with the lowest flow in the river Branica were the reasons for low diversity of phythobenthos.
