Abstract     Diagnostic assessment of patients with peripheral arterial disease starts with clinical investigation. In patients with acute limb ischemia further workup should be done in the hospital with treatment possibilities. In patients with chronic limb ischemia perfusion pressures measurement should be done as the first line investigation.Toe pressure measurement is advised in thecase of mediocalcinosis. When intervention is needed, imaging of peripheral arteries should be performed. Sometimes, especially in severely ischemic patients, tissue oxygen measurement could help for further planning of therapeutic procedures. Some objective assessment, like perfusion pressures measurement, should be done also after treatment procedures. Risk factor assessment should also be a part of evaluation of patients with peripheral arterial disease.
