Abstract | In vascular surgery specific treatment depends on an accurate diagnosis. History of the patient and clinical examination can determine the severity of the disease and provide an approximate localization. Non-invasive imaging tests will refine the diagnosis. Mostly used nowadays are colour duplex and spiral computed tomography, sometimes also magnetic resonance angiography. Despite improvements in non-invasive techniques, intra-arterial angiography remains the gold standard for precise visualization of vascular pathology before vascular surgery. | |
