Abstract     The aim of this lecture is to introduce the theory of traditionat chinese medicine(TCM), and especially the acupuncture which is a part of it. The acupuncture is an about 3000 years old way of healing illnesses. French jesuits brought the acupuncture to Europe in the 17 th century. The ancient theory of acupuncture is based on the philosophic view on the world-Taoism. Where TAO is the basic force which promotes everything. The theory of YIN and YANG - the two contradictory aspects of the world. They are in the dynamic steady state and the disharmony between them leeds to illnesses. The vitat energy QI is essential for functionig of the organisms, and it must circulate through the body. When the circulating slows down the illness apears. The theory of FIVE ELEMENTS -water, fire, wood, metal, earth is very important in the diagnosis of TCM. The theory of the CHANELLS and ACUPUNCTURE POINTS is also the basis for the acupuncture diagnosis and therapy (1- 3). Nowadays in many countries researching institutes are dealing with the effects of acupuncture. ln the USA and in several European countries the study of acupuncture is included in the pre-graduate programs of medicine (Harvard, Stantford, Yale, Columbia, ...). They have researching institutes and the effects of acupuncture analgesia are quite clear. They work through the morfine like acting mechanisms. After the acupuncture low frequency and the strong stimulation of the acupuncture points the enkephalines and dynorphin are realised. Because of that the presynaptic inhabition occurs in the medula spinalis. (Abstract truncated at 2000 characters)
