| Abstract | The behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) diminish the capabilities of patients with dementia and present a serious burden for their family members and caregivers. This article discusses various BPSD, such as delusions, hallucinations, misidentification, depression, apathy, anxiety, insomia, wandering, agitation and others. The possibilities for using antipsychotics, antidepressants, anxiolytics, mood stabilisers and other drugs to alleviate BPSD are stressed. | |
| Summary | Vedenjske in psihične spremembe (VPSD) dodatno zmanjšujejo sposobnosti bolnikov z demenco in obremenjujejo njihove svojce ter skrbnike. Prispevek obravnava različne VPSD, kot so blodnje, halucinacije, napačno prepoznavanje, depresija, apatija, tesnobnost, nespečnost, tavanje, vznemirjenost in druge. Opisane so možnosti uporabe antipsihotikov, antidepresivov, anksiolitikov, stabilizatorjev razpoloženja in drugih zdravil za lajšanje VPSD. | |
