Abstract		Quality assurance should be conducted in four steps - plan, do, check and act - if we want to make changes that will improve health care. Several types of quality control that are currently used in the Slovene health care system have only a limited capacity for identifying health care problems, without any real potential to change the quality of services, with internal audits as the only exception. Managers of health care organisations are in the position to change their organisations, so they could deliver better care.
Summary		Zagotavljanje kakovosti mora slediti štirim korakom - načrtuj, stori, preveri in ukrepaj - če želimo iz ugotovljene nepravilnosti iztržiti kapital. Različne oblike nadzorov v Sloveniji imajo zelo omejene možnosti odkrivanja težav pri oskrbi, brez možnosti izpeljati proces spreminjanja k boljši kakovosti, le notranji strokovni nadzor se ponaša z vodstvenim pristopom, ki zadeve resnično lahko spremeni na bolje.
