Abstract | The Serotonin syndrome is an acute and potentially fatal state of increased serotonergic activity with in most cases arises from interactions among various serotonergic drugs. The main symptoms include those of autonomic arousal, neuromotor disturbances and disrupted conciousness resulting in coma and death. The symptoms considerably overlap with those seen in the Neuroleptic malignant syndrome and distinction between both syndromes is often not easy to make.Therapeutic measures are mainly supportive, after the emmediate removal of all serotonergic drugs,. More complicated cases require admission to an intensive care unit. | |
