Abstract		Spontaneous pneumothorax is one of the many causes of chest pain especially in young people. It can be primary or secondary. Primary pnevmothorax is more common in men with tall habitus and smokers.Secondary pneumothorax appears in older people with underlying pulmonary disease. It is important to diagnose pnevmothorax since it is possible that tension pnevmothorax occurs in some cases and untreated has fatal outcome. The methods of treatment range from observation, aspiration, tube drainage and chemical sclerosis of pleura to thoracoscopy and thoracotomy.
