Abstract     In emergency unites we encounter a »particular« group of people generally called the homeless. Most often they are the people who have, at a certain point of their life, lost their job, home and varios forms of social care. During the medical treatment of the homeless we come across s difficulties, such as finding the data or the motivation for cooperation during the careswell as looking for the best solution of medical problems. From the nursing point of view providing a good medical treatment is a real challenge becouse these people are in most cases untidy, their general health- and hygienic state are bad. Their readiness to cooperate during the care process is small or non-existent. The homeless are often hospitalized not only becouse of their health problems but also and above all becouse of social indications. Discharge of those homeless, who have not benn hospitalized after the treatments at the emergency unite presents a serious problem. As a rule there is a cooperiation of different specialists at the emergency unite: general medical care, internal medicine and surgery. It is the one who has treated him/her last that has to discharge the patient. These procedures take a lot of time and the commitment of the whole medical team which at the same time must not neglect the big number of other patients who come in need of help. There are variousquestions and dilemmas opening and emergency unites cannot solve them themselves without help of wider social community.
