Abstract     In the time of fast transportation means thorax injuries are becoming more common. According to the mechanism of the accident we have to pay attention to the life threating conditions like airway obstruction, tension pneumothorax, open pneumothorax, massive haemothorax, unstable thorax and cardiac tamponade. In these cases prompt action is of vital importance. Urgent action is resuscitation according to the ABC principles. The goal of treatment is a restoration of normal cardiorespiratoy function, haemodynamic stability, treatment of associated injuries and prevention of an infection.
