Abstract		Respiratory failure is a frequent disorder in emergency patients. The causes are diverse and can involve many vital systems. Respiratory failure presents with a constelation of nonspecific findings. Initiating appropriate specific therapy is crucial. Emergency medicine nurse should be able to follow up and manage patients with respiratory failure, to triage such patients and recognize alarmant conditions requesting prompt action or close control.
