Abstract		The article gives an overview of quantities and types of waste produced as well as practice of waste management in homes for elderly (nursing homes). Determination of main problems is based on the research that has been carried out in 2003 in home with 333 inhabitants. The most important problems determined in the results of the research are presented. These problems are: accurate records on quantities, types and methods used, unsuitable technical design of equipment and premises, inaccurate implementation of separate waste collection at the source and inadequate participation of all workers involved in the waste management process in homes for elderly.
