Abstract | Celiac disease is life-long inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract that affects the small intestine in genetically susceptible individuals, and it is caused by the exposure to dietary gluten. The prevalence in Europe is between 1: 130 to 1:300 inhabitants. The cornerstone of the treatment is gluten free diet. Patients should omit wheat, rye and barley. The population-based studies have suggested that recognized cases of celiac disease may only represent the tip of the iceberg. Establishing the diagnosis of subclinical celiac disease is of essential importance to prevent complications, mainly malignancy. This article is a case report on the asimptomatic celiac disease in a young woman. | |
