Abstract     Modern approach to treating patients after extensive abdominal surgery consists of an adapted anaesthesiology technique, including regional anaesthesia, early oral feeeding prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting and early mobilization. Such approach allows faster postoperative recovery, reduces hospital acquired infections, assures better quality of life and faster integration of the patient back into his home enviroment. This approach has been implemented in the General hospital Jesenice and the results of a retrospective analysis are presented in the paper.
