Abstract     The purpose of the pilot study was to assess the influence of hydrokinesiotherapy in thermomineral and ordinary pool water on spine flexibility, pain, metabolism, blood pressure and body weight in a group of patients with type II diabetes. 34 diabetic patients, aged between 50 and 70, were included in the research, and divided into two groups: one group was practising hydrokinesiotherapy in Ptuj Thermal Spa, whereas the other was admitted to the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of Maribor General Hospital. With an anonymous questionnaire and a descriptive method, an assessment of pain was made with Visual Analog Scale (VAS) before and after hydrokinesiotherapy. The distance from tip of toes and the ground in flexion and left and right side bending was measured. Body weight, the value of blood sugar and blood pressure were measured before and after hydrokinesiotherapy. Under the influence of hydrokinesiotherapy the improvement of spine flexibility and reduction of blood sugar level, blood pressure and body weight have been established. In comparison with exercise movement in ordinary pool water, better effects on human body have been achieved with hydrokinesiotherapy in thermo-mineral water of Ptuj Thernlal Spa.
