Abstract		Histopathological examination of the bioptic specimens of the stomach enables classification of disease entities, which are endoscopically usually nondiagnostic. By microscopical examination, patholiogist can classify gastritis, neoplastic and tumor-like lesions. The correct final diagnosis depends on close cooperation between pathologist and gastroenterologist, who samples the representative specimens and gives relevant clinical data. The correct diagnosis is fundamental for a successful therapy.
Summary		S patohistološkim pregledom bioptičnih vzorcev želodca natančno opredelimo bolezenske entitete, ki pogosto endoskopsko niso diagnostične. Patolog lahko s histološkim pregledom opredeli vrsto gastritisa, tumorske in pseudotumorske spremembe. Pravilna končna diagnoza je odvisna na eni strani od patologa, na drugi pa tudi od gastroenterologa, ki mora odvzeti reprezentativne biopsije, ter patologu posredovati diferentne klinične informacije. Pravilna diagnoza je osnova za uspešno terapijo.
