Abstract		Endoscopic ultrasound has significantly enriched diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in gastroenterology. This imaging method provides detailed images of gastrointestinal wall, its layers and surrounding structures. Furthermore, the technological development of endosonographic instruments has made it possible, to obtain endosonographically guided fine needle aspiration cytology and different therapeutic procedures, including drainage of cystic lesions and drug application. In the article the author describes the application of endosonography an submucosal tumors and gastrointestinal stromal tumors.
Summary		Endoskopski ultrazvok je obogatil diagnostične in terapevtske postopke v gastroenterologiji. Slikovna metoda je omogočila natančen prikaz stene prebavne cevi, njenih posameznih plasti ter bližnjih organov. Sodobni endosonografski instrumenti z različnimi instrumentalnimi in funkcijskimi dodatki, pa omogočajo tudi tankoigelno biopsijo, odvzem citoloških vzorcev, izpraznjevanje cističnih sprememb in lokalno zdravljenje z zdravili. Avtor v prispevku opisuje uporabnost te slikovne metode pri submukoznih tumorjih zgornje prebavne cevi in gastointestinalnih stromalnih tumorjih.
