Abstract		This article describes drugs influencing water and electrolyte excretion, called diuretics. Most of them modify the transport of sodium ions in tubular epithelial cells via different mechanisms. They are the drug of choice for the treatment of hypertension and diseases with concomitant edema, such as congestive heart failure, electrolyte disturbances, kidney diseases and liver cirrhosis.
Summary		V tem članku bova opisala zdravila, ki vplivajo na izločanje vode in elektrolitov v ledvicah. Imenujemo jih diuretiki. Večinoma delujejo tako, da na razne načine vplivajo na prenos natrija v tubulih. Pomembni so za zdravljenje hipertenzije in bolezni, pri katerih se pojavljajo edemi: popuščanje srca, bolezni, pri katerih je porušeno elektrolitsko ravnotežje, bolezni ledvic in jetrna ciroza.
