Abstract     The turn of the last century saw many changes in environmental legislation. For many companies in Slovenia this meant that they had to adjust themselves to new law requirements. Some environmentally unfriendly industrial tenchiques had to be updated and changed. Companies had to start keeping evidence of quantities and the way of raw material formation and the use of it. New environmental taxes had to be payed. The same happened with yearly reports, which have to be sent to the Statistical office of Slovenia (SORS) and the Environmental Agency of the Republic of Slovenia (EARS). Some of the older yearly reports have been changed and new reports also came to light. That is why some additional errors in companies' reporting were expected. The paper gives a review on possible sources of these errors. The review is based on detailed examination on actual practice of reporting data for two selected reports 'The yearly report of waste from production and service activities' and 'The yearly report of water use and water protection from industrial pollution for the year 2004', as exhibited in a case of Slovene company.
