Abstract		In Slovenia as well as worldwide, gastric carcinoma is considered as a disease with poor prognosis. In nearly 40-50% of patients, the tumor is unresectable, whereas in 75% of the other half of the patients, the recurrence of tumor is observed despite a radical resection of the tumor; of these 75% of recurrences, 40-65% are local and/or regional. In 2001, we introduced postoperative radiochemotherapy as a standard clinical practice in the treatment of patients who had undergone radical resection of nonmetastatic gastric adenocarcinoma, stage Ib-IV, in order to improve postoperative treatment outcome. In this report, we present our treatment results, obtained in the period from January 2001 to December 2004.
