Abstract     Inhaled medications are a very important method of local treatment of pulmonary diseases. They exhibit many advantages over systemic use. With inhalation we achieve higher concentration of the drug with lower dosage, more rapid onset of action and we can avoid majority of systemic side effects. For treatment of lung diseases we most frequently use anticholinergics, beta 2 agonists and inhaled corticosteroids. Despite the wide range of different inhalers, there is still a lot of space for improvement, especially in optimising the lung deposition and simplifying the use of these inhalers.
