Early tangential excision for deep dermal burns was done mostly on the 3rd post burn day, for subdermal burns, electrical hight voltage burns on the 1st or 2nd post burn day. We operated 5.018 patients, 57% of hospital treated patients. Mortality rate was 0,9%. The unstabile patients with major burns and respiratory injury was treated as staged surgical wound closure (4%; 134 patients). In this group mortality rate was 27%; 94 death.
