Abstract     Inflammation markers that are used to estimate the aetiology of infection, to separate systemic from localised infection, to evaluate a response to antibiotic and to predict the outcome of infection were described in a present article. In the first part laboratory inflammation markers which are usually used in clinical practice were presented. In the second part of our article diagnostic value of leukocytes, sedimentation rate, C-reactive protein, and procalcitonin for different locations of infection are specified.
