Abstract     Biometry is a methodology for recognizing and identifying people based on their individial and distinct physiological or behavioral characteristics - fingerprints, eye (iris and retina patterns), speech, etc. Should health information systems eventually digg us out, from under mountains of papers, tight security plans with strict access/transaction control and data versioning must be implemented. The entry to present applications is governed largely by passwords, whieh are not only easy to steal and crack, but also expensive to maintain and burdensome to remember and use. Biometric authentication was used in our clinical information system thorax.6 making it safer and more user friendly, allowing users to enter with the touch of a finger.
