Abstract     Anticoagulant therapy is the mainstay treatment of cancer patients with venous thrombosis. The majority of patients with acute venous thrombosis are treated with low molecular weight heparin and many of them are treated at home. In addition recent results demonstrated that low molecular weight heparin is effective, well tolerated and superior to warfarin also for decondary prophylaxis. The use of low molecular weight heparins in longterm therapy of venous thrombosis improved the quality of life for cancer patients.
