Abstract     A study of movement and predation activity of the Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx) on Menišija and Logatec plateau was started in 2005. The area can be considered a marginal part of the Dinaric lynx population areal. Movements of animals westward are significantly hindered by the transport infrastructure: the railway and the Ljubljana-trieste highway. In the wintertime, the activity of lynx was monitored by snowtracking. We used GPS to determine coordinates of locations where particular behavior or a change in course of travel was noticed. From January 22nd until March 15th, we made 93 kilometers of tracking polygons that encompassed 271 described locations. In March 2005 we captured an adult female lynx and equipped it with a GPS-VHF radio collar. VHF-Telemetry was conducted on three subsequent days per week, for which the collar was programmed to transmit a VHF signal for four hours over two periods:afternoon-evening and evening-night. We measured distances between daily and weekly locations and determined home ranges for these periods using minimal convex polygons, Jennrich-Turner centroids and 95% kernel. We used snow tracking, telemetry data and collaboration with hunteres and other people in the area to look for remains of prey. We analyzed the prey remains to determine prey spectrum, biological characteristics of predated animals and the course of the hunt. Preliminary results show that the main prey species in the area is roe deer (Capreolus capreolus).
Summary     V letu 2005 smo na območju Menišije in Logaške planote začeli s spremljanjem gibanja in predacije evrazijskega risa (Lynx lynx). Območje predstavlja rob območja stalne prisotnosti dinarske populacije risa, ki ga proti zahodu močno omejuje prometna infrastruktura: železnica in avtocesta Ljubljana-Trst. V zimskem času smo aktivnost, gibanje in plenjenje risov spremljali po sledeh v snegu. Z GPS sprejemnikom smo določili koordinate točk, na katerih smo ugotovili posamezni tip vedenja ali spremembo smeri gibanja. Od 22. januarja do 15. marca 2005 je bilo izdelanih 93 km poligonov sledenja z 271 opisnimi točkami dogodkov na osnovi spremljanih sledi. Marca 2005 smo ujeli samico risa in jo opremili z ovratnico GPS-VHF oddajnikom, kar je omogočilo telemetrično spremljanje njenega gibanja ter ocenitev sezonskih domačih okoliščin. Telemetrično spremljanje je potekalo v slopih po tri zaporedne dni v tednu, ko je ovratnica vnaprej programirano oddajala VHF signal po 4 ure v popoldanskem - večernem in večerno - nočnem delu dneva. Izmerili smo povprečne razdalje med dnevnimi in tedenskimi lokacijami ter določili značilnosti rabe obravnavanega območja v posameznih časovnih obdobjih s pomočjo cenilk 95% kernel, Jennrich-Turnerjevicentroidi in minimalnimi konveksilnimi poligoni. Ostanke plena smo iskali s sledenjem, telemetričnimi podatki ter sodelovanjem z lovskimi družinami in nekaterimi posamezniki. Z analizo plena smo ugotavljali spekter in biološke značilnosti plena ter način plenjenja risa. Dosedanji rezultati kažejo, da je najpomembnejša plenska vrsta na tem območju srna (Capreolus capreolus).
