Abstract     The purpose of our study was to evaluate the isolated zygoma complex fractures (ZCF) in the Clinical department of maxillofacial and oral surgery in Ljubljana from 1999 to 2003. 324 patients were surgically treated in this period because of ZCF. The data were obtained from the medical records retrospectivelly. Men were predominant in 79%, more than 65% of patients were between 20 and 50 years old. The most comrnon causes of ZCF in Slovenian population are traffic accidents in 29% and assaults in 23%; sports accidents had increased in this period. The mean time between the injury and surgery was more than 8 days, but the part of operated patients in the first week after trauma had increased in the observed period. The methods of surgery were different, but the treatment by closed rcposition decreased from 50% in 1999 to 16% in 2003. Postoperative complications were rare except the infraorbital nerve sensibility impairment present in almost half of the patients, but mostly in less extent as before treatment. There were significant correlations between sensbility impairement, method of surgical treatment, preoperative time and the age of patients.
