Abstract     Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy is a medical procedure, in which the endoscopic team introduces a feeding tube into the stomach using an endoscope (1). In adults the procedure is usually performed under local anaesthesia, whereas in children it is performed under general anaesthesia, or rarely under deep sedation, in accordance with accepted guidelines. A nursing sister is involved in the preparation of the child and his parents for the procedure, coordinates the work of the endoscopic team, prepares the endoscopic equipment and carries out the procedures according to the doctor's orders (2). The aim of the endoscopic nursing sister is to enable holistic and quality treatment of children and their parents, as well as to perform the procedure safely, at a high standard and quickly (3).
