Abstract     In this survey, the objective was to estimate the degree of resistance for Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter spp. isolated from clinical samples of patients from the Maribor General Hospital in the 5-year period from 2001 to 2005. The results of routine susceptibility testing were analysed. Data from intensive care wards were analysed separately. In this analysis, the first isolate per patient per year was used. Degrees of resistance found for the Maribor General Hospital in the 5-year period were as follows: P. aeruginosa: piperacillin 8.5%, piperacillin + tazobactam 15.3%, ceftazidime 4.3%, cefoperazone 8.7%, imipenem 10.9%, meropenem 12.2%, gentamicin 16.5%, amikacin 9.6%, netilmicin 20.7%, tobramicin 18.3% and ciprofloxacin 19.8%; Acinetobacter spp.: piperacillin 55.2%, piperacillin + tazobactam 13.3%, ceftazidime 29.6%, imipenem 1.3%, meropenem 1.9%, gentamicin 43.3%, amikacin 11.0%, netilmicin 39.2%, tobramicin 10.6%, ciprofloxacin 48.9%, ampicillin + sulbactam 3.7%, trimethoprim + sulfamethoxazole 43.5%. Our results are comparable with data from other European countries. However, there are certain differences which indicate the importance of local resistance patterns by which to guide empiric antimicrobial therapy.
Naši rezultati so primerljivi s podatki drugih evropskih držav.
