Abstract		Despite initially successful resuscitation many patients die in the first ours after initial cardiac arrest. That's why the link of postresuscitation care is gaining importance in the chain of survival. We present research data about mortality rates and the causes of death after initially successful resuscitation. The therapeutic and diagnostic procedures suggested in the new guidelines 2005 are presented.
