Abstract		Definite treatment of patients, who need emergency cardiac pacing, takes place in the emergency department. We establish the diagnosis of the underlying disease or condition, that causes the arrhythmia. Based on the type of arrhythmia and underlying disease, temporary and/or permanent pacing is indicated. The underlying condition that caused the arrhythmia is treated. In patients with a dysfunction of a permanent pacemaker, we try to determine the nature of pacing failure and correct the failure by reprogramming or reimplantation of the pacemaker or pacing lead.
