Abstract		Despite enormous efforts in intensive care, sepsis has been associated with mortality rates that are very high. Encouraging development of novel therapeutic interventions capable to decrease mortality in sepsis has been made in the past few years. To popularise these new improvements and include them in everyday practice The Surviving Sepsis Campaign was lunched at the annual congress of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine. We present the Surviving Sepsis Campaign guidelines for management of severe sepsis and septic shock.
